My Approach to Counselling:

I strive to provide a compassionate, caring, supportive, and non-judgemental space. I utilize a trauma-informed and client-focused approach led by each person's individual needs and goals.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

CBT is a form of talk therapy. The basis of CBT is that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence each other and create our experiences.

Using this framework we can look at how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are impacting you, and if changes can be made to improve your experience.

CBT is an evidence-based therapy, and has been found to be particularly helpful in treating anxiety and depression. CBT can be used with children, adolescents, and adults.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

ART is an evidence-based therapy used to help treat the impacts of trauma and negative experiences that are hard to let go of.

It involves using eye movements to help process and reduce bodily sensations/emotions, desensitizing you to your traumatic memory or negative thinking.

The brain, while focused on the traumatic memory and doing eye movements at the same time, makes new connections with a person's strengths and problem-solving abilities.

Play Therapy Techniques

Play therapy is the systematic use of a theoretical model an interpersonal process wherein trained Play Therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.

Play therapy can be a helpful approach with children aged 4 to 10 years old.

I have 60 hours of play therapy training, which has provided me with a solid foundation of play therapy techniques.
